I had just tucked my 8 year old in to bed and decided just seconds later to make sure he was still there! I'm not sure why kids don't comprehend that us parents have supernatural premonitions about their naughtiness, but, nonetheless he was out of bed and playing on the floor. I had to laugh because I startled him greatly and the terrified look on his face was punishment enough for this minor faux pas. Immediately my eyes were drawn to his closet and a half opened Halloween candy bag stuffed with empty wrappers. (My kids self-ration out their candy for months! I would have eaten it in one day!)
I picked up the bag and riffled through what I was sure would only be the gross candy - you know, Smarties and those nasty strawberry candies with goo in the middle! To my surprise I found a snack size Heath Bar still tucked inside. I pulled out the bar with a sheepish grin and jokingly informed him, "I'm eating this because you got out of bed!" "What is that?" he replied. It's a delicious chocolate and toffee HEATH Bar I explained. "Oh, I though it was a HEALTH bar," he said rather matter of factly. "Is that why you didn't eat it?" I asked. "Yes," he said.
I couldn't stop laughing! Heaven forbid he would be forced to eat something healthy! Oh well, his loss and my gain as I savored the Health Bar in front of him!
I guess that's what you get for not reading the label!
That is hilarious!! Good kids for rationing out the candy...I have no self discipline!!
